A: Yes, You can. You can join sessions with up to -$10, If you have a negative $10 balance or more, system can not include you in a session until your balance is updated.
Q: Do I pay as I go or do I have to have a balance?
A: Yes, you can pay as you go. Having a positive balance is for convenience, rather than Zelle me every time, you can Zelle me an amount that you are comfortable with and the cost of the sessions you play will be automatically deducted from your balance. Please check your balance on the website and cover your negative balance.
Q: How do I pay for sessions?
A: Please Zelle the Organizer (John) using his phone number. When the tennis session is over, the cost is posted on the WhatsApp group chat. If you have a positive balance then website will automaticly deduct the session cost. Usually, the cost per play for a 2.5 hour regular session at 7-9:30 PM is:
$4.75 per person when 4 or 8 or 12 players;
$6.35 per person if 6 players
$5.45 per person if 7 players
$5.70 per person if 10 players
$5.20 per person if 11 players
Q: Why is the cost per session is different based on how many people sign up?
A: The cost of the balls ($3) is added to the 2.5 hours of the court cost ($16) and total of $19 is divided by the amount of players; Then rounded off within few pennies. This is a non-profit group so we divide the cost of play evenly among players.
Q: When should I sign up for a tennis session?
A: As soon as you can!
Most of the time new sessions are posted early Sunday afternoon and website sends a message to WhatsApp group chat. If we have more people interested in playing than the courts available, our chances of getting another court dramatically increases if we know ahead of time. If we don't have enough interest for more than 1 court, then I post a notice in WhatsApp group chat about cancelling the second court due to lack of interest, and if no more interest from players then I will cancel it by 5PM the day before the session. If we don't cancel a day before then we are responsible for covering the court cost for an unused court.
Q: I want to sign up but there is not an even number of players?
A: Go ahead and sign up, maybe someone else is also waiting to sign up for the same reason. If you want to play tennis, please sign up and we will figure it out and have some fun.
Q: Sometimes there is not enough people signed up for all doubles, do I have to play singles?
A: A few of our dedicated members prefer playing singles and you can work it out with them. The worst possible scenario will be you playing one set or practice just hitting for the duration of one of the three sets we usually play.
Q: Can I cancel a session?
A: Unfortunately, things come up and there are emergencies. Please message me for cancellations, so I can remove you from the roster (And ask a bunch of questions and demand a doctor's note - Just kidding... or am I?). Keep in mind there is a chance the group will be short a player and if that is the case any effort to find yourself a replacement will be appreciated.
Q: Do I bring tennis balls?
A: You can if you like to (but, not neccesary), however keep in mind we can only credit you $3 for the can of balls you bring regardless what you paid for them. Please let the organizer know that you brough a can of balls. The group supplies a fresh can of PENN brand balls per court, per session at the cost of $3.
Q: Can I bring a guest?
A: Guests are encouraged as long as we have available spots! Please make sure your guest is a minimum solid 3.5 level.
Q: Do I have to switch partners after every set?
A: Switching partners are encouraged however the other team is OK with keeping the same partners and up for the challenge, then it is up to you.
